230 Selango Samburu II

The project aims to construct 3 communal rainwater reservoir/earth dam (minimum 4-5,000m sq storage capacity), including auxiliary structures (multi-purpose watering point for community and livestock/wildlife – a trough fitted with a float valve for self-regulation, to ensure a continuous water supply. The reservoirs will be fenced with a stone wall to prevent livestock and wildlife from entering the reservoir so that they cannot pollute the water and damage parts of the wall. , The areas around the reservoirs will be left to regenerate and used for FMNR training. The FMNR will have a focus on Acacia trees as they produce important seed fodder for animals during droughtIn addition the project will establish bee-hives to protect the ‘mother trees’ and reservoir enclosure from elephants and to pollinate the flora and fauna, improving the ecosystem as a whole.
