92 Organic Farming Tibetan Settlements

Following the Green Revolution significant portions of the arable land in India has been exhausted and in an effort to rebuild the soil quality and secure future sustainabiity of the agriculture that is underpinning the Tibetan Settlements, this project is aiming at converting 6 of the 12 Tibetan Settlements in India into Organic Farming. The project provided training to more than 800 farmers, crops were diversified through introduction of new cash crops and introduction of equipment to increase mechanisation. The project also introduced dairy production and community compost production centres and other income generating activities. An estimated 24,000 people benefitted from the project.
