54 Doeguling Soil and Water Conservation Project

The second project with the Tibetan settlements in India, this one in Mundgod of Karnataka State. It was very similar in design to TCF040 with a goal of improving crop yields, soil fertility and to check soil erosion. The project also aimed at improving the ground water table, soil moisture retention, and improving the livelihood of the farmers.
To reach the goal the project would: countour bund 1996.18 acres, build 60 gully plugs, 5 gabion dams, 27 farm ponds, 10 percolation ponds, renovate and desilt 2 check dams and construct 4 new check dams. In addition the project constructed 2.2 km of roadside trenches, 5.5 km of roadside drain, 11 pits and boreholes, 60 ferro cement water tanks and the planting of 100,000 tree saplings on bunds and wasteland.
