35 Kapeeka Water and Sanitation Project

35 Kapeeka Water and Sanitation Project

This project was implemented in Luweero, Kapeeka Sub-County, Uganda. It involved the provision of alternative water sources including 15 Boreholes, 2 Valley Tanks, and 230 Rain Water Tanks. One of the exciting features of this project was the training of small groups of young men in water tank construction and pump maintainance, which was turned into a small business with many subsequent tanks constructed by these groups paid by the families themselves after seeing the benefits from the ones constructed under the project. All latrines in public places were found well maintained and clean. The project assisted an estimated 17,000 people.
