33 Kasulu Food Security Project

33 Kasulu Food Security Project

This project was conceived to complement the Kasulu Child Survival Project (TCF015). The finding in TCF015 was that the health of the children was only improving slowly despite the medical interventions and that the main problem was malnutrition because of poor livelihoods of the farmers in the area. The project would train 4,000 Farmers in improved farming methods and would receive implements to increase food production. The idea was to improve the diet for children under 5 and their mothers. The project had mixed results with some villages having built on the training and the equipment and some had even been inspired to invest in personal farm implements etc. In other villages, the project had not made any difference and equipment was either inactive or had been privatized.,
