TCF funded the project Goles por la Paz to form a Football for Peace Academy as a new initiative within Goles por la Paz. (G4P) in Colombia., The neighbourhood (barrio) in which G4P works has suffered from some of the highest levels of unemployment, poor nutrition, school dropout, and a large number of ‘pandillas’ or gangs. G4P has worked for over 12 years delivering an intensive programme to 200 at risk youth and has been active and successful in training young people in cross community work using football to bridge ‘barreras invisibles’ (invisible barriers) between barrios on the city. , The project aims to take this training to another level through forming a Football for Peace Academy which will build on the success of the cross community work by using football to train Positive Peace Champions.
