195 Conservation and Development Sebakwe

The Sebakwe Conservation & Education Centre is located adjacent to the Midlands Black Rhino Conservancy, which is home to the critically endangered black rhino and diverse wildlife. In the surrounding communities there is a huge dependence on natural resources for their day to day livelihoods. Unfortunately, there is usually not enough harvest to sustain families between one season and the next and as a result some people are compelled to harvest natural resources in an unsustainable way, including poaching. To assist in the conservation goals, TCF funded SCEC to assist the communities with natural regenration, water and more sustainable livelihoods options.
