In 2017 a severe draught affected millions of people in Kenya and through ChildFund we helped improve the well-being of children, families and communities affected by the on-going food crisis in Turkana. The program included: i) Supplementary feeding in Early Childhood Development centres: food (maize, beans and Unimix), iodized salt and fortified cooking oil will be procured and distributed to 8 Early Childhood Development centres for the wet feeding program and ii) Growth monitoring for children will be carried out on a monthly basis at the Early Childhood Development centres in order to track changes in their nutritional status. iii) Scale up of mass screening of children in hard-to-reach communities. In addition the program included procuring and distributing 15 water tanks (10,000 litres capacity) to Early Childhood Development centres that did not have water storage facilities and trucking of water to 12 ECD centres.
