On the 20th of February 2017 famine was officially declared in parts of South Sudan. This is the first time famine has been declared in the country since independence and the first famine declaration made globally in over six years. TCF funded food distribution through Plan International as part of an overall famine relief in collaboration with WFP and UNICEF.
