TCF funded Evidence Action to install 300 Chlorine Dispensers alongside all waterpoints in Zomba Malawi. In collaboration with District Health Centres the dispensers are maintained and refilled with chlorine funded by from carbon credits for a period of 7 years, provided the uptake is sufficient. Monitoring visit have confirmed that cholera has been eradicated from the district and that diarrohea prevalence lowered by 33%. The carbon credits based on the reduced need to boil water has not been approved to the degree initially expected, but can still cover the direct cost of maintaining and refilling the dispensers. The increased hygiene practises has helped address the spread of dieseases such as Covid-19.
