Under this project CARE International in Vanuatu implemented an emergency response program, funded by TCF, to address the immediate food needs of people affected by Cyclone Pam. The project was implemented in, partnership with the Government of Vanuatu, under the guidance of the Food Security and Agriculture Cluster (FSAC) and with support from The World Food Programme (WFP).
Together with the Government of Vanuatu CARE was able to complement the food basket distribution in Tafea province with seeds and tools (funded by another donor) to assist the affected communities in reestablishing their gardens and improve nutrition. In total the project reached 862 households / 3,696 beneficiaries including 401 children under five years of age and 41 people living with a disability. Overall sixteen communities received support from CARE exceeding the target in the original proposal of reaching seven communities.
