123 Typhoon Haiyan Relief Project

123 Typhoon Haiyan Relief Project

Early morning November 8th 2013, a 600km diameter typhoon named Yolanda (international name Haiyan) made landfall in the eastern Philippines, with average wind speeds of 290kph, comparable to a category 5 hurricane. ChildFund was able to reach significantly more families than the original target due to lower actual purchase costs compared to those budgeted for through purchasing farther from the disaster areas. The staff was able to establish good relationships with the suppliers resulting in discounts and donated services such as delivery of goods to the repacking sites and repacking for the NFI.
