111 Mali Emergency Feeding Program

111 Mali Emergency Feeding Program

The project addressed the critical food security and nutrition needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in central Mali in the two regions of Mopti and Segou. Insufficient rains and a poor harvest had resulted in widespread food insecurity across the country affecting 3.5 million people. This was exacerbated by conflict in the North, which had resulted in significant movements of IDPs to the South. Government capacity to support the needs of the displaced populations was weak. It is anticipated that an estimated 15,000 people benefitted from the assistance.
