Building on a previous project, this Hope Worldwide project provided free medical care to squatter communities in greater Phnom Penh. The care included health screening, diagnosis, primary care treatment and nutritional supplementation and worked to reduce obstacles to follow-up treatment. It also included community education on nutrition, hygiene, water purification, chronic diseases, HIV, TB and other communicable diseases. Importantly the project also sought to extend the medical outreach to where people are during the day, as many breadwinners simply cannot afford to take a day of to go to the doctor. This approach resulted in a significant increase in the number of men that accessed medical services.
