TCF provided Drought Relief via Emergency Food Supplies to Zambia under World Visions “10 for 1” appeal on three occasions. More than two million people were in desperate need of food aid in Zambia alone because of the severe drought which caused total crop failure in the south of the country.
Some 14,4 million people face critical food shortages across southern Africa as a result of the drought. The drought was however not the only problem as armed conflict, corruption and the mismanagement of food supplies, environmental degradation, trade policies that harm African agriculture and the long-term economic effects of Aids served to exacerbate the situation.
