Since 1986 the Lords Resistance Army and its commander Joseph Kony have abducted and abused a large number of children. The purpose of this project was to provide psychological rehabilitation for some of these former child soldiers and to reunite them with the families from where they came. During the project 450 former child soliders passed through the centre that was initially placed in Gulu, but was opened up in Kitgum following an attack on a secondary school in Kalongo. The rehabilitation was achieved through counselling and provision of vocational training.
